President’s Letter

LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

As the 2024 season of CMSMGA draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many highlights & to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made this season such a success!

First of all, CMSMGA grew to a record 143 members reflecting a 3.2 % increase over 2023. The year reflect a diverse & challenging schedule playing a variety of 17 different golf courses across Central Mississippi. Our return to Pete Brown Municipal in Jackson was a homecoming from our humble beginnings in 1985 as Capital City Men’s Group.

Our 40th anniversary will be celebrated in 2025 with even more exciting plans to enhance our tour schedule. Our tournament schedule begins with Brookhaven CC renamed Ole Brook with a par 70 rolling hills layout designed by Max Maxwell. Among our other signature events we will return to Dancing Rabbit, Castlewoods, Refuge & Deerfield CC

Of course a major highlight of our end of the season was our match play versus South Mississippi Seniors at Shadow Ridge in Hattiesburg. A showdown of fierce competition resulted in a TIE!
We renamed the event Magnolia Cup as we look forward to a return to Shadow Ridge in November.

The season long cup point match was won by Forrest Sammons with a score total of 1,340 points. Congratulations on a superb performance Forest! Eagle Ridge led all clubs among our top 36 winners with an impressive 15 players ! All winners were rewarded with a trophy symbolizing the CMSMGA logo and tagline, Genuine Gentlemen Golfer”

The support and generosity to CMSMGA of Edwin Watts & Nevada Bobs is greatly appreciated which enhanced and rewarded our players competition with bonus certificates on our closest to pins prizes. These generous sponsors are essential to our success & allow us to provide a higher quality golf experience.

Finally, I must thank all 143 members for your participation, enthusiasm & dedication to the game of golf symbolized by CMSMGA.

Cordially,

Tim Rodgers
President
